CIRCULAR: Formation of Institute level Anti-Ragging Committee and Squad

As per the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and The AICTE Regulation dated 01.07.2009 and UGC Regulations dated 1706.2009. The Institute has formed the. Following Anti-Ragging Committees and Squad for overseeing the implementation of the provisions of the verdict with immediate effect:

The Anti-Ragging Squad shall work in coordination with the Anti-Ragging Committee and oversee the implementation of the recommendations

Introduction:

Anti-Ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following Acts with or without any intention by any Student or group of Students:

  • Any act of Indiscipline, Teasing or Handling with Rudeness.
  • Any act that Prevents, Disrupts or Disturbs the Regular Academic Activity. Any Activity which is likely to cause Annoyance, Hardships. Physical or Psychological Harm or creates Fear.
  • Any Activity which is likely to cause Annoyance, Hardships, Physical or Psychological Harm or creates Fear
  • Any act of Financial Extortion or Forceful Expenditure.
  • Any act of Physical Abuse causing Assault. Harm or Danger to Health or Life.
  • Any act of Abuse by Spoken Words. E-mail, SMS, MMS, or public Insult etc.
  • Any act of Injury to the Fundamental Right to Human Dignity.
  • Any act of Wrongful Confinement, use of Criminal Force Trespass or Intimidation.
  • Any Unlawful Assembly or Abatement or Conspiracy to “Ragging”.
Punishments:

Depending upon the nature and gravity of the offence as established by the Anti- Ragging Committee of the University, the possible punishments for those found guilty of ragging at the University level shall be any one or any combination of the following:

  1. Cancellation of admission.
  2. Suspension from attending classes.
  3. Withholding / withdrawing scholarship / fellowship and other benefits.
  4. Debarring from appearing in any test / examination or other evaluation process.
  5. Withholding Results.
  6. Debarring from representing the University in any regional, national or international meet , tournament ,youth festival etc.
  7. Suspension /expulsion from the hostel.
  8. Rustication from the University for period varying from 1 to 8 Semester.
  9. Expulsion from the University and consequent debarring from admission to any other University
  10. Rigorous imprisonment of three years and / or a fine of up to Rs. 25,000/-
  11. Collective punishment: when the person committing or abetting the crime or ragging are not identified the University shall resort to collective punishment as a deterrent to ensure community pressure on the potential raggers.

As per the instruction and Regulations of AICTE/UGC/ Supreme Court of India, each of the Student of the Institute and his/her parents and, or Guardian are hereby required to submit an Affidavit at the time of registration, / admission, in the prescribed format as attached to this order, which is mandatory for registration / admission.
